The dynamic duo of Dean and Jay met me at the RDS Wedding Show and told me I was the photographer of choice for them. Over the 18 months leading up to the wedding, I got to know them both. I met their adorable dog Spud and visited their new home in Slane. They had me very excited about all their wedding plans for the big day. They chose Seafield Hotel, close to the stunning Ballymoney beach in Wexford to entertain their 200 guests.
And entertain….they did. Jay joked with me that once he met Dean, he doubled his wardrobe, but on the wedding day, they both had amazing suits that complemented each other. The Ted Baker shoes looked great. Though, poor Dean had great difficulty getting them on, as he hadn’t worn them in beforehand like Jay! There were tears of laughter from the pair of them, when they both realised that they had bought the same book for each other. Jay got fabulous Cartier cufflinks from Dean for his birthday to match their Cartier wedding bands. As soon as the 7 groomsmaids (had to keep remembering to say that, one flowergirl and 5 groomsmen and 2 pageboys got ready, which was no mean feat! – The familes came up to the room too for some photos. Then Dean and Jay gave us 10 minutes for photos outside on the grounds of the hotel. Spud, Jay, Dean and the wedding party walked over to make their grand entrance into the marquee, which Jay’s mum had decorated herself. Not only had she done all the flowers but she fully collaborated with Jay and Dean on the banqueting room. The marquee looked stunning with all the crystal shivari chairs and candles. There was hardly a dry eye in the room when the ceremony took place. Sandra from Spiritual Ceremonies was officiating. We were all blown away when Jayne, Dean and Jay’s friend sang her heart out. The ceremony flew with a ring warming (even Spud got to put his paw on the rings), 2 poems and 3 readings. The funniest moment was when Dean and Jay got to seal the deal by signing on each others backs as there wasn’t a table! The guests got to enjoy ice creams and homemade lemonade before moving to the golf club for prosecco, iced beers, donuts, popcorn and even a helter skleter chocolate fountain. We were entertained by the amazing barber shop band 4 in a bar. Then the guests were drum rolled in to see the stunning banqueting room with over 1000 candles and 20 3 ft vases stored by Dean and Jay before the wedding! While the guests were seated, Dean and Jay and ourselves were whisked away by Patrick, the fun loving Manager of the hotel in the golf buggy to the woodland for some photos. Then, it was back to join the party, with a fabulous meal, entertaining speeches, a 7 tier wedding cake to be cut and loads of dancing to be done.
I will always remember their words ‘People get scared of getting old, but that was before I knew that I’d be growing old with you’. What lovely words to remember a super celebration by.
