Elizabeth (Liz) and Niel (Ty) are well travelled. Liz from Dublin met Ty in Canada and with Liz being quite sporty with hobbies like horse riding and snowboarding when they went on their first date skating on the Rideau canal near Ottawa, they joked it was the Irish girl who taught the Canadian how to skate!
Liz chose to come back to Ireland for her wedding and wanted a urban city centre wedding. They chose City Hall for their ceremony and The Kildare Street and University Club for the celebrations. Liz is a gifted musician and dancer having studied at NCAD, while Ty is a competent construction contractor. Liz got ready at home in Rathgar and it was lovely to see her doing her mum’s make up for the big day. The only bit of panic in the morning was trying to tie a flat bow on the wedding dress. The girls all ended up looking up youtube videos to crack it…..
The ceremony was a humanist ceremony with hand tying and blending of sands which was accompanied by a string quartet. After the ceremony, we took a group shot of everyone and some family shots in the stunning interiors of City Hall. Liz, Ty, myself and Ronan of Ronan Quinn Video all fitted into the horse and carriage that Liz and Ty had planned for a little trip through the city centre. The horse Del Boy must have been very fit to carry us all with video and stills cameras without any difficulty. Liz, Ty and the bridesmaids all met us up at Stephens Green where we had some more wedding photographs in Stephens Green. My newleyweds even managed to squeeze in a walk down Grafton Street before heading back to the party at the Club.
With Liz’s father Michael being an avid sailor and Commodore of the Royal St George Yacht Club, we liked his speech – Liz was a little alternative and like a sailor – tacks and sails her own course in life. Liz had nearly everyone in tears when she sang unaccompanied ‘She moved through the Fair’. The excitement wasn’t yet over as Liz and Ty took to the dance floor to their friends band Backbeat and did an amazing burlesque dance routine. With Liz being thrown in the air, just as well she changed into another little white dress for that.
