Michelle and Mike came over from England with their three girls Danielle, Lauren and Phoebe for their wedding at Cliff at Lyons. I had not met the pair of them until the wedding day but had a great chat with Michelle on the phone on the lead up to the day. She told me a lot about the plans for the wedding celebrations. Their wedding was the last wedding to get ready at the Carriage Suite which was quite nostalgic before being turned into a spa and wellness area.
I enjoyed hearing how Michelle picked her dress; she had at first tried on ivory or white dresses but was told the colour just didn’t suit her. So instead, chose a fabulous champagne dress which complimented beautifully with the vibrant bridesmaid’s dresses.
The ceremony was timed to be under 30 minutes exactly and was performed by Gerry Byrne in the Cliff at Lyons orangerie. It was full of laughter as well as being a solemn occasion. Michelle’s mum Catherine walked her down the aisle. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a few drinks out in the courtyard. The newleyweds were happy to accompany us around the gardens for their wedding photographs at Cliff at Lyons, once we had a glass of prosecco nearby! Michelle was keen to have her “prosecco time” as she called it herself. We enjoyed taking some shots in the fabulous organic vegetable and herb garden as well as in the little chapel and by the fountain.
We loved the cake made of cheese accompanied by olives and crackers and other savoury goodies. Her sister who came all the way from Japan for the wedding decorated it. For any sweet lovers, they had fancy cupcakes as well. Michelle and Mike had gone to a lot of trouble with the place names. They had trawled facebook for photos of the guests and had a photo of each guest on the table. There were some interesting photos. We especially loved the one of their friend sitting in a suit jacket and boxers in his office chair. We were keen to know about this photo. He told us that he had split his trousers and his workmate said to take them off and they would sew them for him. And of course,he got papped and put on facebook!
