Rachel’s dad Mark told us that the moment he laid eyes on his first born, she had him wrapped around his finger, and to this day she is still his Princess. Rachel met her own Prince Niall and on a cold christmas morning 8 years later, Niall popped the question using his mum’s own engagement ring which is very similar to the ring worn by Kate Middleton. The young couple have four amazing kids Jessica, Laura, Aaron and Ciara so I am sure life is very busy for the pair of them. Though, it didn’t seem to stop them from planning a fabulous wedding.
Rachel got ready with all the girls in her parents house in Rathfarnham. In the kitchen I was blown away by the huge BIG BROTHER style screen showing all the rooms. It was explained to me that is because the family run their own security business! So that explained alot. The girls all got dressed into fabulous dresses, the bridesmaids wore Royal blue while Rachel’s stunning dress was from Alice May Bridal in Kilternan. I loved that Rachel had a choice of two pairs of shoes, the comfy ones and the not so comfy ones! The boys looked equally smart in their sharp suits and royal blue ties. Tom documented them getting ready. Niall did a great job of dressing little Aaron in his suit. Though, like all boys, later he always had his shirt hanging out!
The ceremony took place at St John’s Church in Ballinteer. The lovely Fr Joe made sure they were official! Niall had rung me during the week to let me in on a little secret – he wanted to surprise Rachel with a helicopter ride back to Druids Glen. It went off seamlessly, Rachel never guessed a thing! All the family took flight, though I think poor Aaron who is a bit young yet found it too scary to go!!!! Myself and Limelight Videographers raced on ahead to get the landing while Tom stayed to photograph the lift off. Once they all got their feet planted firmly on the ground, it was time for some celebration and chat with friends. Then, we headed off on another mode of transport, the golf cart, to capture some lovely scenic photos out by the bridge at Druids Glen.
Back at the reception, we had a peek at the fabulous cake with layers of fruit cake, chocolate biscuit, lemon drizzle, red velvet and carrot cake. So all flavours covered!!! We stayed to photograph the speeches, how cute to see a baby Rachel in her father’s arms on the tv screen! She looks just like her own little Ciara who I hope was tucked up in bed by the time the band All Talk started playing.
