Georgina and Shane are not the typical wedding couple! They met in Rain nightclub in Portobello and the quiet calm Shane fell in love with the mad bubbly Georgina. Between the two of them, they have five kids ranging in age from 27 years to 7 years and two grandkids!

On the run up to the Christmas wedding, Georgina and Shane were keeping fit by taking part in Strictly Come Dancing in Greenhills Community Centre and did very well coming second! Their kids even got into a fitness buzz before the wedding; going to the gym once a week and then for the 3 months before the wedding, twice a week.

Georgina and Shane chose the fabulous Westgrove Hotel for their celebrations. Both Anna and myself went over to Georgina’s mum Margaret’s house in Kimmage for the getting ready. Georgina had warned me it would be like an episode of Mrs Brown’s Boys in the house. We certainly had a laugh there. It was all go in the house. We met her two lovely bridesmaids Celine, the bride’s sister and Pauline, her friend. Georgina had told me that when Pauline had tried on her bridesmaid dress in the shop, she couldn’t stop curtsying, cos she said she felt like a princess.  All the neighbours called in to see Georgina in her wedding dress.  So we made sure we got them all outside for a photo before we left to the local church St Bernadettes on Clogher Road.

We got there just in time to take a quick photo of Shane and the lads, Colin and Colm before Georgina arrived in her silver and wine Beauford for the ceremony.  Georgina practically did the quickstep down the aisle hand-in-hand with her brother Jim who had come home especially from Australia for the wedding.  After the ceremony, we took a few family photos on the altar before heading down the aisle.  With the light fast diminishing, we got a few more photos outside the church before our car journey to the hotel.    When we arrived, we persuaded the two of them to take a little walk in the sunset before their welcome drink!  We couldn’t miss the opportunity of some golden light before darkness fell!

The Westgrove was all christmassy, with candles, a big tree and loads of decorations.  So it had everyone in a festive mood.  After a few drinks and a chat, Georgina and Shane came into the main room to take a look at the cake.  As Georgina rightly pointed out, it is the one thing you don’t get to see until the day.  It looked stunning, a bottom layer of chocolate biscuit, middle layer of vanilla and a fruit cake top layer.  The sugarcraft wine roses with berries and mistletoe looked so pretty.  They even had thought of loads of sweets on a candy cart for all the kids.

Georgina and Shane were persuaded to show us some of their dance moves and we couldn’t resist one last photo on the staircase with all the candles before we left them to cha, cha, cha the night away!
