Lyndsey and Ivan are college sweethearts and mad into sports. Lyndsey is a rugby fan and is regularly found on the terrace in the RDS supporting Leinster. Ivan loves to watch GAA matches, Lyndsey says very often she has to leave the room as there’s a lot of shouting while watching the matches!
Ivan took Lyndsey totally by surprise by asking her to marry him one Saturday at home in January. No such thing as the January blues for Lyndsey!
They chose Summerhill House Hotel for their wedding celebrations. The morning of the wedding, Anna went up early to Summerhill where Ivan and alot of his family were getting ready. I went over to the girls in Sandyford. It was a nice relaxing morning for Lyndsey and her bridesmaids Sharon and Helen. We met Lyndsey’s dad who was so nice. I remember him joking that he could now see why some men have 10 wives to do everything!!!! Lyndsey was a great help and made sure his tie was tied correctly. She presented him with a lovely keepsake of an embroidered handkerchief to keep. Lyndsey’s dress is from Ronald Joyce and she got it in Alexander’s Bridal on Parnell Streeet. The bridesmaids dresses were from the Jenny Packham range in Debenhams.
As soon as the girls were ready to go, a friend of Ivan’s, Micko brought Lyndsey to St Fergals Church in Bray for the ceremony. It was very personal as Fr Paul a family friend was also doing the mass.
After the ceremony, we agreed to go to Bray to the infamous bandstand as Lyndsey’s uncle works on the seafront and had arranged for the bandstand to be open for us to step up on it. We had such a laugh as it was very very windy and hair, veils and suits were going flying! But, it didn’t dampen spirits, and we got some lovely photographs on the seafront with passers by enjoying the scene!
We didn’t delay too long as the newleyweds were keen to get back to the party at Summerhill. After a little time mingling, we took some family shots in the cute little garden with the house in the background. We also got a chance to see the super cake by Cakes Galore, a layer of which was made by Ivan’s mum Noreen. It looked amazing, and had a few layers of fruit cake, red velvet and chocolate biscuit. We left them in the bar chatting away until we got a chance to do a last photo of the whole party outside before they headed in for their meal and dancing. Lyndsey and Ivan are off to South Africa on honeymooon with a safari trip thrown in. Bet, they get some good photos!
