Louise stayed local and found Ciarán in Ardee at the CastleInn pub on New Years eve back in 2006. Seven years later, with a house and their fabulous son Cillian, Louise said Ciarán wanted to get a move on to ask her to marry him! So he popped the question on a short break to the Slieve Russell hotel the day before Louise’s birthday.

They chose the stunning Cabra Castle for their wedding celebrations. I went early to Ardee to photograph the girls getting ready, while Anna went over to the lads. While, I was photographing shoes, flowers and dresses, Anna was at the local football field with the lads where they train! Two very different mornings for them both.

The church was very close by and in fabulous countryside of wheat fields, country roads and even an odd goat on a chain! Cillian was full of enthusiasm, and ran up the aisle to meet his daddy. After the ceremony, we made sure to take some photos on the bridge as Louise told me they all had photos taken somewhere on that bridge, even her parents wedding album had photos taken there.

We stopped off after the ceremony at the nearby wheat field for a few photos and then we headed up the driveway to Cabra Castle and took a few more photos with the Castle in the background. As Louise had told me that Ciarán had worked in Dubai while they were dating and had bought her a ring there as a token of his love. When, it came to the engagement ring, they got a good deal on rings they liked at a jewellers but the pair of them felt the ring from Dubai was very sentimental, so for Louise’s wedding band, they took the diamonds from the previous Dubai ring and had them put into her new wedding band. We really wanted to get a photo of the rings. We put the rings on the seat of the vintage wedding car, and just as I was about to photograph them, Louise’s ring slipped down the back of the seat. An exciting moment, but thank goodness, I could still see it, and fished it out!!!

At Cabra Castle, the guests enjoyed the reception, with champagne and vintage tea and coffee flowing. They also had fun using the polaroid camera for the guest book. Cillian enjoyed pretending to play the harp to his mum and dad and posed away for all the family shots. Ciarán was determined to get his unruly football pals together for a photo before dinner.

My newleyweds told me they are planning to honeymoon next April in Dubai and the Maldives. I think they will need a staycation now to recover from a crazy night of dancing away to Sugartwon Road.
