When Marianna and Stephen booked me two years ago, they didn’t know that the next time I would see them, they would have the amazing Abigail. So Abigail was honoured to be the only child at the wedding!
The pair of them wanted a wedding in Wicklow, known as the Garden of Ireland, and chose the fabulous Druids Glen. Marianna is originally from Chisinau in Moldova and when I arrived at their house in Swords. Inside the house, were some very Moldovan touches. They told me they had someone come over to decorate the walls for them and I just loved all the iconography on the walls. We all got to do a bit of Moldovan dancing in the sitting room too.
Tom went over to photograph Stephen who was busy trying to put the ribbons on the cars! Stephen made the most of his groom power and had the lads tying his shoe laces for him! He told me he had been out that morning buying a watch for himself and the salesperson couldn’t believe how calm he was on the morning of his wedding. Stephen likes to be romantic and suprised Marianna that morning with a vintage wedding car! The look on her face when she opened the front door.
It proved a great success as there was a long drive to go from Swords over to Saint Patricks Church in Kilquade. We all got delayed due to the usual Irish tradition of an accident on the M50 but we all arrived safe and sound and enjoyed a super Irish/Moldovan ceremony with Ann Tuite on the harp. Adam Trainer was multi-tasking and not only was doing their video for them, but was going to DJ later that night.
After that, we headed over the road to Kilquade Garden Centre, it sounds like an unlikely spot for some photos but they have fabulous landscaped gardens out the back. We took our family shots and Marianna insisted on a ‘Fun’ photo which she may have regretted asking for…. as she and Stephen had to crawl inside a wendy house and peep out through a narrow window.
We then headed back to Druids Glen to chat to everyone and take the golf cart out to the golf course and lake. Marianna was still in ‘Fun’ mode and had Tom chasing a golfer to borrow a golf stick to practice her swing.
When we went into the room and saw the cake we were blown over. It was so pretty and very high!!! Emilie made it. And, it took Emilie and a few strong hotel staff who drew a sigh of relief when it was safely positioned on the cake table. We heard that after dinner, the Manilla Strings were going to perform, so no doubt, it was a very late night for everyone! I hope Abigail got a nap in!
