Caitriona and Brian both worked together in Price Waterhouse Coopers but ended up meeting a few years later on a night out at Christmas time.
After four years together, they climbed Croagh Patrick and when they reached the top in the rain, Brian got down on one knee and with a traditional Claddagh ring and popped the question. Caitriona said yes and with that the clouds cleared and they sat looking at the view!
They chose the stunning Wicklow area for their wedding. Caitriona got ready along with her bridesmaids that morning in Brooklodge Hotel. It meant she could enjoy being at the venue and just relax and take it all in. Anna was with Brian as he got ready in his parents home in Castleknock. They chose the fun loving Ronan Quinn to do their wedding video.
We loved the colour of the bridesmaid dresses, a stunning sage green which complimented the wedding flowers by Buds and Berries. It looked lovely in the photographs.
We arrived at the local church in Aughrim to see that Fr Joe Kennedy was officiating the ceremony. He is quite a character and started to show me photos of his Harley Davidson on his phone. During the ceremony, he would ad-lib a lot and ask the readers to say some words themselves! He had everyone in good form, and enjoying the whole ceremony!
Caitriona and Brian were keen to get back to Brooklodge to taste some of the craft beers they had chosen for their wedding. The guests also got to enjoy some ice-cream from the ice-cream cart. While friends were munching ice creams and drinking beers, we headed over to the bridge and the stream for some photos and of course we had to stop by the pub before heading back to the party!
We went in to look at the four tier cake of Belgian Chocolate Biscuit, Chocolate Sponge with orange cream (which I am told is delicious) and traditional fruit and carrot cake. Something for all tastes! The cake was made by Bev of Amazing Cakes in Bray.
Caitriona and Brian had selfie sticks for everyone on the tables and they were all having great fun using them! Just before we headed away, we had to take a double take, as Brian’s sister Noelle had changed from her lovely dress into her GAA gear! Turned out she was off to play a match and the come back to dance the night away to the Wedding Knights.
With a fabulous honeymoon planned of going to Mexico, California, San Fran, Napa Valley wine region and Lake Tahoe it will be hard to come back to reality after that!
