Lorna and Darren were student sweethearts from Dublin City University. They got together in the final year of college and Darren proposed to Lorna at a beach bar on holidays on her birthday. Lorna told me that Darren is ultra organised, and when it came to the wedding, it really showed. The theme of the wedding was purple and “Love Hearts”. I was so impressed with all the little details. Lorna had a beautiful hangar for her wedding dress, the groomsmen had matching cufflinks and socks, the mass booklets were designed by Darren, there were so many little touches that made it a very special day. Lorna’s dad was quite a character, when I was in their house, I spotted something quirky up on a high shelf in the kitchen, it looked like a model of Hilary Clinton. When I mentioned it to him, he explained it was his nutcracker and he gave me a demonstration of it so had to catch a funny snap of that!

Her parents house is just opposite the church in Churchtown, so Lorna actually walked up to the church with her bridesmaids which was very novel. The ceremony was really personal with Fr Dermot Nestor officiating. Lorna organised The Loreto Beauford past pupils choir, her own choir, to sing during the mass. All the flowers at the ceremony and the wedding bouquets were supplied by a close family friend from Tiger Lily Flowers.

After the ceremony, we followed the wedding car – the fabulous vintage Rolls Royce as Lorna and Darren really wanted to have some photos at Farmleigh. Even though, we were worried that traffic would be bad as Blooms Festival was also on that weekend at Farmleigh. Darren as organised as ever, stuck to his guns and we headed off to Farmleigh. They were both so right to take the trip. The scenery was stunning, full of greenery and trees with a fabulous centre pond at the back of the house. So, we were delighted with the backdrop for photos!

We got back quickly enough and started to do some family photos and friends photos. We loved the cake that Lorna’s aunt Maureen had made. The guests were all signing the guest book which was a big tree with hearts when we left.

They were planning a honeymoon in USA. New York, San Fran. Los Angeles and finishing in “Las Vegas Baby!”
